About Karla, The Gainesville Violinist
Karla, The Gainesville Violinist is dedicated to delivering enchanting violin performances for weddings, events, and private lessons. With a passion for music and a commitment to excellence, Karla brings a unique blend of artistry and professionalism to every occasion. Her captivating performances create unforgettable experiences, leaving a lasting impression on every audience.

Karla has studied at several prestigious music programs, including the Charleston International Music School with Isaac Malkin, Virginie Robillard, and Peter Zazofsky. She performed with Itzhak Perlman at the Perlman Music Program and attended the Philadelphia International Music Festival and Lancut Music Festival in Poland, studying with Philip Kates and Sergey Kravchenco. Karla also trained at the Indiana University Summer String Academy with Mimi Zweig, the Sphinx Performance Academy at the Curtis Institute with Jannina Norpoth, and the Internationale Sommerakademie für Kammermusikauf in Germany with Jacek Klimkiewicz. She further developed her skills at the Sphinx Solo Performance Academy at Juilliard and the Bowdoin International Music Festival with Mikhail Kopelman.

Karla has a Bachelor of Arts in Music at the University of Florida, Gainesville, under Dr. Jana Lower. She previously attended Lynn University in Boca Raton from 2019 to 2022, studying with Carol Cole. She is also an honors graduate of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Eastside High School in Gainesville, where she graduated in 2019. Additionally, Karla completed the music program at the Mozarteum Caracas School of Music in Venezuela, an institution for young musicians aged 8 to 18.

Karla is a member of both the Gainesville Orchestra and the Ocala Symphony and serves as a violin teacher in local elementary schools through the Gainesville Orchestra's outreach program. She has been teaching violin since 2019 and was part of the Collective Chamber Orchestra in 2023, an organization dedicated to bringing music education to underprivileged areas of Honduras. As a performer, Karla has played with the National Symphony of Tegucigalpa and participated in charity events and TV appearances. She has earned scholarships to attend the Indiana University Summer String Academy, Sphinx Performance Academy at the Curtis Institute, and the Juilliard School of Music. Karla is the recipient of several awards, including the 1st Place Dorothy Reaves String Award from the Foundation for the Promotion of Music, the 2019 David Hubbell Concerto Competition, and 2nd Place in the Florida State Teachers Association Concerto Competition for Intermediate Strings. She was also selected to perform at the 2019 Alachua County Teacher of the Year ceremony, and made the Dean’s List at Lynn University.
